Fighting for the rights of the disabled in Burkina Faso PDF Друк e-mail
Четвер, 19 травня 2011, 07:39

By Gladys Guienguéré, Head of Communications and Public Relations, Bible Society of Burkina Faso.

"Having been born with a visual disability, I was a source of shame to my parents. For a long time I was ignored and rejected. Then at last I was able to study in a specialised centre, thanks to a teacher who managed to persuade my father. Today, although I have a degree, I am unable to find employment because the state refuses to employ disabled people. So why was I sent to school?”

It was in answer to this cri de coeur from Abraham Kologho and from thousands of other disabled inhabitants of Burkina Faso that the Bible Society of Burkina Faso launched an awareness campaign for the rights of the disabled in March.
